The Salvador Metro is a currently under-construction metro project for the city of Salvador, Brazil. The system includes two lines and a suburban railway line.
The Salvador metropolitan area has a population of around 3.5 million, making it the seventh most populous city in Brazil. The new metro line, upon completion, is expected to serve an estimated 300,000 passengers a day.
Each train, consisting of four cars, has the capacity to carry 1,250 passengers. Line One: Four stations (Acesso Norte, Retiro, Juá, Piraja) and a maintenance complex.
This line’s construction includes: 1.2km of tunnel, 4.7km of elevated levels and 5.8km at-grade track. Line Two: 11 stations (Bonocô, Detran, Pernambuês, Imbuí, CAB, Pituassú, Flamboyant, Tamburugy, Barrio da Paz, Mussurunga and Aeroporto).
