Georgia BioScience Training Center supports research, technology transfer and workforce development critical to bio manufacturing in the state. The new training center is located directly across from the site of Baxalta’s $2 billion bio-manufacturing facility. The training center is owned by the state of Georgia and operated by Georgia Quick Start, a division of the Technical College System of Georgia.
The landmark building also serves as a leading edge incubator and recruitment tool for Georgia to lure firms in the global biosciences industry.
The facility features custom-made technology that simulates bio-manufacturing processes such as centrifugation, chromatography, nanofiltration and aseptic filling.
The majority of Georgia BioScience’s exterior is clad with custom-weaved rigid mesh from Cambridge Architectural. The stainless steel creates a distinctive, high tech design and at night, becomes a backdrop for a wall wash of LED lighting that glistens in a variety of colors. Inside the building, Cambridge flexible mesh surrounds an open air, elliptical courtyard that is the initial vista when entering the facility.
Mesh also screens the Center’s main conference room.
