ENG joined Advancing Electrical Prefabrication 2026, held July 23–24 at the Sheraton Dallas in Dallas, Texas. Now in its third year, the summit is a contractor-led technical forum focused specifically on electrical prefabrication, gathering hundreds of BIM, prefab, shop, and field operations professionals from firms at every stage of maturity.
ENG exhibited on the floor and presented a two-project case study on how prefab strategy should change with project type.
Conference Highlights
The two-day agenda was built by and for practitioners, with electrical contractors walking through workflows from their own shops and jobsites.
- More than 30 contractor-led presentations covering what worked, what failed, and what teams would do differently
- Sessions across the full prefab chain model setup and standardization, shop manufacturing, field installation, and multi-year scaling plans
- Structured peer benchmarking that lets attendees measure their own prefab maturity against firms at every stage
- Cross-functional attendance, with modeling, shop, and field roles in the same discussions rather than siloed by discipline
One theme recurred across sessions: the firms making the most progress were not those with the most equipment, but those with the most disciplined upstream modeling standards.

ENG exhibited at booth 31 with a five-person team: Axel Kruger, Chief Executive Officer; Jay Berryhill, Chief Revenue Officer; Josefina Reale, Business Development Executive; Sebastian Faria, BIM Project Manager; and Marvin Carrera Santizo, BIM Expert. Pairing leadership with BIM specialists meant contractors could work through modeling questions on the spot.
The Session: Data Center vs Healthcare Prefab Strategy
In the conference’s main session room, Sebastian Faria, Marvin Carrera Santizo, and Axel Kruger presented “Data Center vs Healthcare: A Practical Guide to Prefab Strategy — Everything Starts With Smart VDC.”
The core argument: the project environment dictates the prefab strategy, and applying the same modeling approach to every job is one of the costliest habits in VDC. Two builds at opposite ends of the spectrum made the case.
- Data center — repetition rewarded aggressive standardization. Building the model around reusable typicals and consolidating repeated assemblies compressed more than 3,700 spools into fewer than 400 sheets. This process cuts drafting hours and simplifies handoff to the shop.
- Healthcare — the same approach would have failed. Tight ceiling cavities, dense multi-trade congestion, and heavy code and clearance constraints called for the opposite response: higher detail, tighter tolerances, and spool-by-spool resolution of conditions that could not be generalized.
- The decision point — a project’s repetition profile should be assessed before modeling begins, because that call drives model setup, sheet strategy, and every downstream handoff.
The session closed with a practical guide translating both paths into a decision framework, rather than prescribing a single method.

Advancing Electrical Prefabrication marked another step in ENG’s 2026 event calendar, following the Advancing Prefabrication 2026 earlier this year. ENG values direct engagement with electrical contractors and industry partners. Consequently, it looks forward to continuing these discussions on prefabrication, standardization, and VDC strategy throughout the year.
